Chapter 23. Seeking Police Help

The entire week ended on a positive note, with Claire being nicely settled at the bakery with her new team. She hadn’t heard from Chris in a while and although she returned home late; she was happy to see Nate’s newfound interest in cooking easy dishes for dinner. Claire was impressed, even though the dishes didn’t turn out perfectly. She ate everything that he made for him with a promise to make it up to him during the weekend. So he eagerly waited for the weekend, but when the weekend arrived, Claire was busy at the bakery. Nate was disappointed, but he didn’t show his disappointment. So when Sunday arrived, Claire returned home early after a whole day at the bakery, eager to keep her promise to Nate. But she was stunned to see Chris waiting for her in front of her building with a scowl on his face. Claire’s face fell, as she was in no mood to deal with him.
