Chapter 14. Fine Never Means Fine
Elara POV
I bounce down the stairs, making a list of things I need in my head. I have decided that I am not taking the triplets with me. If someone is truly after me or people like me, I don’t want to put them in danger. The silver necklace around my neck is a painful reminder of just how serious this must be. I doubt my birth mother would have left it for me if it wasn’t important.
I round the corner into the kitchen and see everyone around the table having breakfast. My watch tells me it is 7:00 am. With everything going on, I had forgotten that everyone sits down for breakfast together.
“There you are,” Mom sighs. “I thought you were going to skip out on us again today.”
“Oh, right,” I say, sliding into the seat that was always mine. I try to remain calm. I can be delayed a few minutes.
An Omega begins to fill my plate with all my favorite things, but I stop them. “I will just have a grapefruit and some water.”
