Chapter 20. You Can’t Control Me Any Longer

Elara POV

It has been a week, and no one is speaking of what happened. The triplets are avoiding me but not leaving me alone at the same time. They take turns watching me in shifts, but they don’t speak to me or touch me. Nightmares of what happened plague my nights, but I don’t dare seek comfort from them for fear of being turned away.

On my first morning home, I headed down for breakfast, but as soon as I walked into the kitchen, everyone went silent. All small talk ceased, and everyone stared at their plates. It was at that moment I realized that things would never be the same.

I have stayed in my bedroom. Meals and snacks are brought to me, but I don’t eat them. I spend my time staring at the map in the book, trying to decipher where I am supposed to go. Zane refuses to return the locket, so I am lost. There is no way for me to find the temple without the locket. I am kicking myself for not studying the locket and the map together more closely when I had
