Chapter 15. The Moon Goddess Made A Mistake

Elara POV

“Kevin,” I practically scream as I shove the book back into my bag. “What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same thing,” he yells through the glass. “Roll the window down.”

Reluctantly, I roll the window down and plaster a fake smile on my face. Kevin doesn’t seem to notice the smile is fake and I wish he would go away. He leans his arms in the window of the Jeep and gets too close to me.

“What are you doing here?” I ask again.

“I am traveling through on my way back to college,” Kevin says but I don’t miss the way his eyes are darting to the bag beside me.

I clear my throat and try to move away from Kevin, but he is taking up the whole window.

“Shouldn’t you be in newly mated bliss?” I ask, trying not to sound bitter.

Kevin pulls himself out of the window and drums his fingers on the side of the Jeep. “About that,” he says awkwardly. “I was wondering if we could talk.”
