Chapter 27. Altered

Zeke POV

I am standing in the doorway of Elara’s room. My brothers won’t let me get any closer. I watch them curiously as they talk gently to Elara and hold her hands. The silver locket has been removed from her neck and hidden in my father’s office. Only to be returned to her when she leaves for the Imperial Pack’s temple.

The doctor gave her medication to reverse the effects of the silver poisoning. Now, we have to wait for her body to heal.

Zeus is sitting on one side of her bed, and Zane is sitting on the other. Elara is sitting in bed, but her shoulders are slumped, and her eyes are growing heavy. Still, she smiles for them. It is a weak smile but genuine. I can see the hint of a sparkle in her eyes from here.

She glances in my direction, and I have to ignore the urge to go to her. Everything about her pulls me in, and I almost forget that I am disgusted by what happened to her.
