Chapter 29. I Will Get Better

Zeus POV

I watch Elara as she walks to the bathroom. She is wobbly on her thin legs like a newborn deer, and I worry she will fall. Rushing up behind her, I scoop her into my arms and carry her into the bathroom. I wait for her to protest, but she doesn’t. She curls into my arms, and I hold her close.

Sitting her on the edge of the sink, I step back and look at her. I don’t know if she will be comfortable with me undressing her or if I should turn around and give her some privacy. As always, Elara seems to be able to read my mind.

She raises her arms above her head and waits for me to take off her shirt. My hands are shaking as I reach for the hem of her shirt. My fingers brush against her skin, and a series of sparks burst beneath them. Elara sucks in a sharp breath as the shirt finally slips over her head.

Slowly, she lowers her arms and braces herself on the sink. She hops down and smirks at me. I lace my fingers in the waistband of her shorts and p
