As Scarlett was leaving the waiting area, she did not respond when Mrs. Juliet shouted after her. The news of her sons' abduction had sapped all of her strength, and she was unsure of where it came from. She needed to go to a place where she would be by herself because talking to her son's captor in front of Mrs. Juliet would only make the teacher suspicious.
