Chapter 52. Asylum
The rain is merciless. It doesn’t seem to give a shit about Lara’s condition as it sweeps through with heavy waves enough to bend the metal poles on the bridge. Standing like a lost soul, Lara is moved to tears again as the small blue cab that carried her zooms off, splashing water from a pothole nearby on her. She barely takes notice of this since her emotions weigh down on her like a heavy burden as she watches the vehicle move ever farther in the traffic.
She looks around and sees no one on the gray-colored bridge. On either side is a lake on which a few canoes are floating.
“Breathe, Lara. You have got this,” She whimpers to herself as cold air bites into her lungs. Forcing herself into motion, she grabs her emerald-green box and rolls it alongside her as she trudges forward with no direction in mind. A walk of shame, one she never thought would be this bad.
Muffled sobs exit her lips at intervals as the raindrops mix with her tears. Each stride she makes seems
