Chapter 55. Agony
“You have made me spend more money than I make in a year! If I had invested such amount of money on the horserace this week, I would have been so rich by now…” Cathy grumbles as she slams the door of her red Volvo shut, all her anger and frustration directed to that action.
Lara remains mute, relaxed at the back of the Volvo still battling with internalizing the news that she is having twins. The sun has appeared, its rays brightening the scene and giving it a warm hue. The glass windows seem to glitter even more as the rays of light are reflecting from them, forming small rainbows in Lara’s eyes. She seems unable to stop staring at them— the way they remain in their state with no bothers or worries, whatsoever.
“Are you even listening to me?” Cathy echoes, the sound of her voice pulling Lara out of her head. She views Lara from her rare mirror, watching as she grunts severally while readjusting her posture with much difficulty. Something within her softens and a feeling
