Gabbie POV
“Wait here,” Athena ordered.
“No, you said you didn’t remember the last time you shifted.”
“Doesn’t mean I’m a helpless old lady.” She raised her chin and pranced out.
I followed her. With the way the door rattled, it wouldn’t be long until it flew off its hinges.
She walked into the living room and pulled out a knife from the fireplace. She marched to the door but stopped midway. I wasn’t far behind her, and she lowered the knife before opening the door.
“The past must be haunting me,” she responded to the woman on the other side.
“Don’t be dramatic, Mother.” Anya stormed in, taking the woman in. “I’m here for my daughter.”
