Gabbie POV

“Come on, Athena!” Dad begged.

“Don’t call me that, you evil spirit. Last time you were here, you cost me a daughter.” She yelled from the other end.

Kade set me down, but my legs felt like jelly. I wanted to be in his arms again.

“Things are different this time. Open the door. There’s someone I need you to meet.”

“I can’t promise I won’t ring your neck.”

“I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Dad chuckled.

Deadbolts came undone behind the door. When the door moaned as it opened I panicked and ducked behind Kade.

“Good heavens! You’ve brought me naked men?”

“Of course not, Athena!” Dad scowled. “Come on, kid.”

My heart beat so hard my chest ached. Kade reached around him and gripped my hand. Finding strength in my mate I stepped aside. I met the woman’s emerald green eyes.
