In the carriage, the two of them were silent. No touching, just bare hushes, and the sound of neighs. Ezekiel sounded nervous when he tried to croak a question. Rachel’s palms were getting colder every minute of being with him. Was it the right thing? Was it something she would be proud of when the regrets washed in?
“How’s Luther Griffin? Did you send him a letter?” Ezekiel’s uncertain words washed down on her body. Rachel looked at him cautiously. She nodded quite shortly, trying to maintain her calmness. What would they do on their first day? What would… be their conclusion?
