Gage’s POV
Well, if she’s this determined, who am I? I shrug and mirror her actions to step out of the car but move multiple places in front of her to the house and place a loud knock on the door.
It takes some frustrating eons before Kate’s mother opens the door. “Good day; how may I help you?”
“Good afternoon, ma’am.” I immediately show my badge to her untrusting eyes as I introduce myself. “Agent Renner, FBI. Are you Meredith Matthews?”
“Do you have a problem with Meredith?” She asks with no less drop in her guard than when she initially opened the door.
“None, ma’am. It’s her daughter we need. And even she’s not in trouble, either. In fact, she’s in danger.” I divulge. That’s usually more than is necessary, but we’ll exclude it from today’s desperate interview.
