Scarlett’s POV

“I parked the car in the alleyway over there!” I point to the far right as soon as we find a window and jump out of it, and we make a heavy sprint for the vehicle. Before the guys can find us and follow us with a torrent of bullets, we’re already behind the safety of the bulletproof vehicle and Gage wastes no time getting us out of there.

The bullets don’t stop, though, as in no time, the men hop onto whatever vehicles they have and give chase.

“They’re unto us!” I duck behind the car seat, almost like I did the first time, but don’t block my ears. I’m used to the sound of gunshots at this point.

“Oh, really? Geez, how can you tell?” Gage mutters sarcastically, and I just roll my eyes. Whatever.

“We have to ditch the car.”
