Chapter 30
Scarlett’s POV
“We’ll get her back. That Creed...mafia, whatever, won’t be able to extract any information from her.” I say with determination burning in my eyes. I just need to be able to stand by noon. We’ll be in the car before nightfall and away from here.
“She was taken by bounty hunters, Scarlett. It appears the Creed got more efficient people to do their hunting.” He explains. His next words almost make me laugh. “And I’m going to get her back. You just stay here and get better.”
“You’re funny.” I reach for his nose and ‘boop’ it. There’s not as much pain as before. I think this confirms that my long sleep had a lot more to do with the tumultuous headaches than the actual concussion. Which is a dull throb at the back of my head. It’s painful, but the migraine in the front was so terrible I didn’t take notice of it.
“It’s not a situation for a joke, Scarlett. You need to get better.” He insists.
“I’m better. I’m awake!”
