Gage’s POV

“I’m sorry you had to wait that long for me. That fucker was just looking for odd excuses to keep me around.” She apologizes as she makes her way into the car.

There are many things I want to say, all of which I know she won’t approve of. Some of which would most likely offend her, and the others... they’re going to make me feel like a fool who just found love for the first time.

“How did it go?” I ask instead, starting the car and pulling out of the garage.

“Bad. Can’t you tell?” She sighs as she struggles to put her seatbelt on.

“I can, but I didn’t want to assume.”

“I’ve already gotten myself an enemy. Can you imagine? It’s just my first day!” She ends in a chuckle and I start one of my own.

“Tell me about it.”
