Gage’s POV

“If that’s not why you’re here, then what have you done to get your pretty face all mauled up?” I question and he shuts his eyes. He counts under his breath before opening up his eyes again.

“Someone went wrong with the shipments. I’m being accused for it.” His voice is strained but strong and I wonder just how much more damage could be done to this guy to break him totally.

“You’re being accused of you’ve been found out? Which is it?” I ask and he doesn’t reply. His eyes leave my body and scan nowhere in particular.

“Listen, I won’t bite. I’m not like them.” My voice is very patronizing and he ducks his head.

“What did you say about paying my debt?” He asks. His voice sounds like someone who is ready to make a bargain and I lean away from him.

“I thought the debt isn’t the main reason why you’re here.”

“You don’t expect me to turn down the offer of someone volunteering to put me out of debt.” He says with a wry l
