Scarlett’s POV

Today, I had to resume earlier than Gage but he won’t let me come alone. So, he drove me here and contrary to Valentine’s instructions, he arrived early.

It wasn’t so big a deal, until Valentine threatened to lay him off for his disobedience. According to him, Gage disobeyed a direct order and it proves that he can’t accept authority which is a major part of the job.

Well, I can’t exactly blame him for hating on Gage anyway. It’s pure psychology. Males feel threatened by other males who are bigger and more imposing than they are.

Gage, he is twice as big and thrice as imposing as Valentine. Now, as it were Valentine is the boss and Gage is the employee. In societal standards, he’s supposed to lord over Gage as he’s supposedly paying his bills. It’s not unusual for him to take out the aggression of his insecurity on Gage. It’s totally normal.

“Just do whatever you want with it. I don’t mind.” He says more softly this time,
