Chapter 35
Alessa didn’t know how she would react to Maegan saying that something had happened between her and Elijah. She felt her whole body go numb. It seemed as if she was standing on a platform with her mother next to her.
“Alessa, come to your room first,” Alicia said to her, but she did not move.
It was as if her heart was being stabbed because of what she found out. Alessa couldn’t speak because it felt like something was blocking her throat. She looked at Elijah.
Alessa wanted to hear Elijah deny it and say that it wasn’t true, but she kept her head down. Her palms are clenched.
“Elijah?” she called to him.
He met her gaze. There were tears in his eyes and they were red. “A-Alessa—”
“I-Is what M-Maegan said true?” She asked, almost in a whisper. Alessa was actually scared because of what was happening. She was perplexed and confused.
