The omega headed down the hall, the dimly lit space causing her heart to thump even harder in her chest. She felt like Nate could wake up at any moment and realize that she was not lying next to him. 

That was one of the reasons she needed to hurry and get this done as fast as she could. 

When she reached the front door, she pulled out her phone and saw a text from Jacob, telling her that he had just arrived and was parked outside of the compound, needing her to come and get him. 

Maddie replied and told him that she would be on her way in a few minutes. Then she placed her phone back in her pocket, opened the door, and stepped out into the cold night. She felt a chill run down her spine due to how cold it was.
