Maddie nodded, that did make sense, and boy, it caused a lot of anxiety to stir in her. 

“But…what if…hear me out…what if she does not have it? What if I maybe hid it somewhere and I just don’t remember where? What if it was a guard who took it and he does not really care much about it because he does not know if it was used to shoot the elder?”

Jacob flashed a small smile. “Come on, now, Maddie. Let’s be real, let’s come back to the world world. This is actually very serious. Everything could go to hell in the blink of an eye. And we’re not just talking about prison time, Mads, you could get burned alive in the square for everyone to watch.” 

He did not want to tell her this but he wanted the omega to know how serious this was. He wanted her to see how everything could go to sh*t if she did not work with him. 

“Right, right,” Maddie mumbled under her breath as she nodded, fear gripping her heart. She was glad that they had not ordered anything to eat
