Chapter 173. Behind the Steering Wheel

The drive back to the villa was silent, the hum of the engine the only sound accompanying Maddie’s racing thoughts. She stared out the window, watching the suburban house blur past, her mind a whirlpool of emotions. 

The taste of the seafood lingered on her tongue, a bittersweet reminder of the evening she had just left behind. 

When they arrived at the villa, Maddie took a deep breath before stepping out of the car. She straightened her posture, trying to compose herself before she faced Nate. Lucy followed her into the house, her presence a silent reminder that she now had a bodyguard. 

Inside, Maddie felt a twinge of guilt as she walked through the familiar halls, heading towards the bedroom. She needed to remind Nate about the therapy appointment but she was not sure how much she should reveal about her meeting with Jacob.
