Chapter 26. Homeroom

As Maddie settled into her seat, her heart raced at the sight of Alpha Nate Thorn beside her. She had not expected to find him here, in her homeroom of all places. The air crackled with tension as their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them. 

His presence felt both comforting and unsettling. 

Ignoring the curious glances from their classmates, Maddie focused on the task at hand, she could not afford to let the guy’s unexpected appearance distract her, not when she had so much on her mind. 

But every time she tried to concentrate, her thoughts drifted back to the burglary, the hollow ache of loss gnawing at her insides. 

As the class began, Maddie found herself stealing glances at Nate, it was like he looked better with each new day. Lowering her voice, she leaned in when the teacher was not paying attention and asked, “What are you doing here?”
