His presence felt both comforting and unsettling.
Ignoring the curious glances from their classmates, Maddie focused on the task at hand, she could not afford to let the guy’s unexpected appearance distract her, not when she had so much on her mind.
But every time she tried to concentrate, her thoughts drifted back to the burglary, the hollow ache of loss gnawing at her insides.
