Chapter 37. Running from Destiny
But he looked so good. She was lost in staring at him for a few seconds before she snapped out of it, her heart dropping when she remembered what Elder Roy had said.
She needed to stay away from him. Clutching her new backpack on her shoulder, she dashed for the sidewalk, walking as fast as she could and not even bothering to look back.
“Maddie!” Nate called after her but she ignored him. She valued her life, she did not have much but she was grateful for everything she had and did not want it all to be stripped away from her all because of her feelings for a guy.
“Maddie, dammit!” She heard his voice as he went after her but she did not slow down. In fact, she started running.
She ran out of there and did not look back until she was a block or two away. That was when she finally looked back, and when she did, she didn’t see him.
