Chapter 40. My Secret Spot

Maddie did not know what to expect, she thought that the place was going to be a crime scene. 

She thought that there were going to be yellow tapes all over the place but there were none. But the more she thought about it, why would there be?

It was not like Elder Roy had died, he was still alive; he was just in the hospital after being attacked.

Maybe it was a crime scene for a few hours after he had been found but it was no longer one. “Um…isn’t this where Elder Roy was found?”

Nate unfastened his seatbelt, nodding nonchalantly. “Yeah, but it’s alright, it’s safe.”

“What if the person who attacked him is still out here?” She asked, trying to not appear as guilty. 

“I doubt that, plus the police did a very thorough sweep over the forest. This is a nice place, one of my favorite places because I used to play here as a kid. I’m not going to let anything ruin that for me.”
