Chapter 39. The Burden of Blood
For the first time she had shifted, for the first time that something she had really wanted had happened, things had to go wrong.
She was almost sure that it was her wolf who had attacked Elder Roy. And with time, she knew she was going to get caught.
Then her life would come crumbling down.
Should she go over to the station and report herself? Should she confess? Would that make them go easy on her?
But there was no assurance that would save her from the wrath of the pack.
Maddie took out a book or two and placed them in her backpack while putting the other ones that were in her bag back in the locker.
Closing it, she stepped away and started for class. After a few more classes, school was finally over. She could barely pay attention, her mind had been clouded with fear of being arrested and killed in the town square.
