Chapter 7. Back to School

Maddie could not stop the tears from flowing from her eyes as she slid to the floor, sobbing loudly. She cried, she allowed the pain to overtake her. It felt like her heart was bleeding and that her world had crashed down on her. 

Why was her life like this? Had she been cursed by the Moon goddess? Had her parents done something evil in the past and she was now paying for it? 

Everything seemed to be against her and it seemed like happiness was only a dream, one she could never truly reach. 

Her phone started to ring and it captured her attention. She flipped her hair out of her face and reached for it, not even looking to see who it was, through tears-filled eyes, she answered the call. “Hello?” Her voice was hoarse. 

“Maddie? Oh my god, Maddie, I’m so sorry,” Sia cried.
