Chapter 27

Sky’s POV

In a clumsy move, I roll out of bed and hit the floor hard, causing a loud thud. As I climb to my feet, the sound of shouting coming from the living room catches my attention, and I let out a grumble. Panic immediately sets in as I realize, after checking the clock on my bedside table, that it's already noon and I haven't even begun my daily routine.

“Owen!” I yell, as I storm down the hallway. “Why didn’t you wake me? And why aren’t you in school?” I enter the living room and see Owen and Lowell sitting on the couch, playing some video game. It is disheartening that neither of them bothered to look at me or respond to my question, leaving me feeling ignored and undervalued.

“Owen!?”

“School was cancelled.” He says without taking his eyes off the screen.

Lowell shouts at the game, and Owen laughs, as the remotes get tossed on the ground. “There’s some kind of tornado warning or something.”
