Chapter 13. You Caught My Eye

“Good morning, class,” the professor said as she walked into the lecture hall.
“Good morning, ma’am,” they all echoed.
All eyes were fixed on the professor as they stared at her with curiosity. She didn’t look familiar to them. She was new. This was the first time they were seeing her walk into their lecture hall.
“Let’s begin, shall we?”
Lacey watched her closely as she wrote her name on the board in big letters: Professor Becky. She was a molten-red-haired woman with bouncy curls.
She turned and faced her class as she took a deep breath and began to speak. “I will be replacing Prof. Wong. His death was a tragedy that shouldn’t happen to anyone.”
Prof. Becky stepped away from the board and took a few steps closer to the pews. “Shall we observe a moment of silence for him?” she motioned.
The entire class slightly lowered their heads as they observed the moment of silence.
“May his soul rest in peace,” Prof.
