Chapter 34. Ride with Jane
It was a calm, cold night. Alex drove down to his mansion after a hectic day at the board’s meeting. Seated next to him was Jane Broody. He had picked her up from a bar downtown after she called requesting help. She had just lost her job. Jane was a news reporter with the ‘New York Times.’ After the death of her brother, she hadn’t been herself lately, especially since Alex was always with Lacey. It should have been them together, with no Lacey in the picture.
For the first time, Alex took his eyes off the road, his hands firmly on the steering wheel. He glanced at Jane. “Could you stop doing that?” Jane narrowed her eyes at him and scanned him from head to chest, rolling her eyes haughtily. Jane finally squeezed out a harsh reply, “Could you go to hell?”
