Chapter 42. My Rage, Her Love

ALEX’S MANSION

Alex was furious about the news. His face flushed with indignation as he rushed out of his room, slamming the door behind him. Confronting his mother hadn’t done any good, so he didn’t bother doing it again. Instead, he went straight to Jane’s room and waited for her, sitting in a corner and gnashing his teeth in rage.

Not long after, the door creaked open. He raised his head and caught sight of Jane walking in, closing the door behind her. He jumped to his feet like a disoriented man trying to find his way back to the track. His sudden action startled Jane, almost making her scream. But Alex was quick enough to gag her mouth with his hand. He pushed her against the wall, holding her tightly with her mouth still gagged.

“It’s just you and I now, and I need the truth,” he whispered. “I will remove my hand from your mouth, but you have to promise me you won’t scream. Nod your head if you accept.”
