Chapter 21. Never Been So Defenseless

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Mariah says while looking at the waves splashing on the sand and the moon shining above.

“Yes, yes it is,” Adam replies, but he’s not looking at the view in front of him, he’s looking at Mariah who’s standing beside him.

Adam has been stealing glances at her all day, his plan to stay away from her failed badly. He wants to be with her for every second of his life because feels comfortable around her, she feels like home to Adam, something he never had. He studied abroad all his life, his father didn’t want to involve him with any kind of mafia and when his mother died, the world collapsed for him, the ground beneath him felt heavier than ever before.

He had no one to call his own, no place to call home. He didn’t realize when he turned into the ruthless mafia that he is now and he never knows when he’d be taking his last breath. The only thing he’s sure about is that he can’t handle to lose anyone anymore, definitely not Mariah, the one
