Liana shook her head faintly. “Nothing.”
Carrie didn’t push, she didn’t have the luxury of time to do so. “I’ll try to sneak out during my break and stop to grab a few things from the house for you.”
Liana nodded. “Okay.”
Carrie stood, smoothing down her shirt before glancing back at her. “You’ll be fine by yourself?”
“Yeah, why not?” Liana said dryly, but immediately regretted it when her head throbbed again.
Carrie smiled faintly. “I’ll be back soon. Don’t miss me.”
She grabbed her bag and headed for the door, pausing only to give Liana one last look before stepping out.
The ward fell quiet again. Liana stared ahead for a moment, her thoughts still circling the same thing. Cain.
She heard the door opened again but didn’t turn immediately, assuming Carrie had forgotten something or that someone was visiting the other patient.
