Chapter 4

Lizzy’s POV

I opened my eyes after forcing myself to sleep the night before. I was exhausted and needed to get up and get ready for school. Everything appeared to be quiet once more, which meant my parents had left for work. They never had time for me except on Sundays.

I did what I always do every morning and went out the front door to go to school, but I was afraid when I was about to pass that frightening house. I stayed there for a minute and decided to just go home and relax for the day.

As I turned to go home, I heard a familiar voice behind me.

“You’re not skipping school today, are you?”

I turned around to see him standing there with his face and body covered, wondering if he was afraid of the sun or if he was indeed a vampire. That means I wasn’t dreaming because I felt scared all of a sudden, ready to run.

“You don’t have to run away from me, sweetheart. I’ll walk you to school.”

I glanced at him, afraid to respond
