Chapter 22

My arm hung around his neck as he took me to his car. He stopped immediately beside the passenger door, opening it slowly so he could let me inside.
He closed the door and walked to the driver’s side, my eyes following him until he sat behind the steering wheel.
There was only silence in the car while he leaned over to help with my seatbelt.
I stared at him as he buckled it, his gaze avoiding mine.
“Whe…re are you taking me?” I asked, staring at him calmly.
“First to the hospital, your ankle is still in a bad condition after all,” he answered, holding onto the steering wheel, his expression cold.
“Why?” I muttered, almost whispering to myself.
“Why what?” he asked, driving as calmly as he could.
“Why did you wait? I pulled a knife and pointed it at you,” I said, looking down at my fingers as I played
