I gazed into his eyes, which burned with a quiet passion, my own holding his as if we were locked in an unspoken staring contest.
What does he mean by ‘again’?
“I’m surprised you came back here in your futile attempt to evade me,” he said, leaning so his face was close to mine—his perfectly chiseled jawline, that half-smile on his lips, the serenity in his tone.
“How did you know I’d be here?” I asked, not genuinely surprised that he knew, yet always prompted to ask even when he wouldn’t reveal his source. It was a question I should have started with in the first place.
“I know you well enough to know that,” he answered, leaning closer. His lips entrapped mine, his hand on my neck, pulling me in for a deeper kiss. I pulled away, forcing us apart.
