“What dress looks best, the floral gown or this?” I asked, pulling out a pink gown with no patterns but too cute to pass on.
“Anyone you choose,” Ashley answered, her eyes fixed on her phone.
“Why are you so nonchalant?” I asked, dropping my arms.
“Nothing… I’m just worried.”
“Me too, but I don’t think I’ve got five thousand dollars to pay right now. Plus, I kinda like Charles,” I said.
“But I won’t shudder in fear of the unknown… Charles wants me on dates, and I’ll go. So now, please cheer up. I’ll be fine and so will he,” I added.
“Now, which do you prefer?” I asked again, holding up the dresses.
“The pink one. It’ll look really cute,” she said.
“I knew it…” I said excitedly.
“By the way, why haven’t I ever worn these?” I muttered.
“Because Declan was a stupid idiot… spending his money on dates with Hailey but telling you all sorts of lies,” she snapped.
