Chapter 17. The Confusion
Both of them were startled when they heard the commotion downstairs, as if sensing what was happening. He instructed her to stay in the room, emphasizing that under no circumstances was she allowed to go down. She nodded in agreement, but out of curiosity, she attempted to leave the room, only to find Antonio guarding the door. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t exit the room.
“I must get out,” she muttered through the door in frustration.
“Sorry, no. Under no circumstances will you leave this room. Sir Nathaniel’s orders,” Antonio stated, pitying her despite knowing it was for her own good. He must not waver; he must not lose his high-paying job.
