Chapter 9
Despite Adam’s words not being rude, they still terrified Grace, feeling like a warning from her perspective.
Tucking her hair behind her ears, Grace headed to the closet and selected a black lace full-sleeve pajama set made of fine fabric. Since her marriage to Adam, she hadn’t worn any revealing or inappropriate clothing. She had been covering herself with modest attire, as wearing a short dress made her feel insecure. She preferred the warmth and comfort of full sleeves and long pants.
She exited the room cautiously, akin to a startled rabbit emerging from its burrow. Grace looked around, checking to see if anyone was present outside.
After confirming that no one was outside, Grace descended the stairs and found the food neatly set on the table. She looked around but didn’t spot Adam in the dining hall. She wondered if he had already finished his dinner or planned to eat after she was done. Many questions swirled in her mind.
