Chapter 16
Ayleen sat in the middle of a flowery meadow shaded by tall apple and orange trees at the far back end of his mansion, at a distance from the well-trimmed lawn. To her left was a little glistening pond filled with water, lilies floating all over the warm water while all kinds of fishes swam around happily.
This place was heavenly to be called in all reality: enchanting and peaceful. She knew it wasn’t allowed for the staff members to wander around at this time, especially here, but for the moment, Ayleen wanted some escape.
Tears threatened to pour out of her eyes in the glistening moonlight as she settled her gaze on the fish swarming freely in the pond.
The cold breeze hit her as she hugged her legs closer. What was her life before, and what has it turned out to be now?
Her phone started ringing in that instant, jarring her out of her reverie. The screen showed her father’s name.
