Elsie POV

I strolled leisurely down the sidewalk enjoying the scenery when I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

I was being followed.

I glanced over my shoulder and scanned the area. There were three of Antonio’s men disguised as ordinary pedestrians. I could recognize them anywhere.

My heart rate quickened and I began to walk faster, maneuvering through the crowd.

They matched my pace and when I realized they were dangerously close, I broke into a run and they began to chase after me

I had exceeded the ultimatum Antonio had given me so he had sent his men to capture me. I had no idea what Antonio would do to me and I didn’t want to find out.

I rounded a corner, into a quiet area then the men opened fire.

I ran into an abandoned building and hid behind a pillar. They didn’t stop shooting and it made me realize they weren’t there to capture me. They wanted to kill me.
