Elsie POV

The next few days were a nightmare. In the whole city, I couldn’t find a single house to live in. No one was willing to rent to me. They made ridiculous excuses just to send me away.

I knew Alex was behind this and it made me wonder just how much power he had exactly.

I was exhausted and angry and was almost out of options. I had just checked into a hotel when my phone lit up with a message from Antonio with only three words.

“My office. Now”

I muttered a string of curses. I could already guess what it was about.

I got off the elevator into Antonio’s office. He was seated on his sofa, his jaw clenched. He didn’t offer me a seat this time.

“You called for me” I said, grasping my hands together in front of me.

“It’s been three weeks. I haven’t received any reports on your assignment. Tell me, how’s it going?”

“I’m still trying to reel him in”

His eyes narrowed, unsatisfied with my answer. At that moment, I wa
