Chapter 97. An Anonymous Message
Kael’s POV
The chirping sound of birds made me jolt awake. I glanced down at the girl curled into my arms.
Her breath fanned my bare chest, tearing a smile through me. Using my free hand, I removed her arms from my body and slipped away from the bed gently, afraid to wake her.
I stood at the edge of the bed, my eyes watching how she turned with a low moan and drifted back to sleep.
My lips twitched, and I couldn’t help but lean forward and press my lips faintly on her cheek.
Then I stood back and ran my hand roughly through my hair. The day was still slightly dark, and yes, this was me trying to run away from her again.
I did not think I could stay in the same space with her. I strode to the restroom, took a quick bath, and wore black pants and a shirt.
Back inside the room, Adrianna was still fast asleep. With one last look at her, I walked out of the room.
