Adrianna’s POV
My brows knitted as I stood rooted to the floor. He must have noticed something off about me, he closed the distance between us in two long, swift strides.
“What happened, Anna?” he asked as he tried to pull me closer.
But I took two steps back with my hand raised, stopping him from coming closer.
“Did you know about the disappearance of my father?” I cut to the chase.
He paused, the air between us suddenly grew thin, and his shoulder raised a fraction. For a brief moment, his eyes dropped to the phone on the floor.
“Anna…” he started as he swallowed.
I shook my head as I held the desk behind me to steady myself.
“I want an answer, Kael. Do you have a hand in the disappearance of my father?” I asked again, my gaze pinning him in place.
His teeth caught his lips as the single word escaped, “Yes, but…”
My breath caught in my throat as the rest of his words blurred. That single word had made my world tilt
