Chapter 39. None to Believe
I walked into the familiar red mansion, a warm homely feeling engulfing me. It was empty, no one was around. I went to the library, where I saw my mom reading a book with her glasses on.
“Mom…” I let out.
“Vinnie.” Mom put down her book and stood up, opening her arms to me.
I ran to her arms and started crying. She didn't say anything, giving me the hint that she knew what might have happened. She rubbed my back in circles, soothing the sobs that racked my body.
Mom made me sit on the couch and placed a hand on my cheek. “What happened?” she asked me after I seemed to have calmed down a little.
“He didn't believe me, Mom…” my voice cracked as I uttered the words with much pain as if there was a fishbone stuck in my throat. “He is going to divorce me. He doesn't want to see my face ever again.”
Mom gasped lowly and said, “Did he file divorce against you?”
