Lyle was wearing that same smug expression again. I hated it. Each time he did that, I wanted to jump off a cliff.
“Where is it? Give it to me right now.”
He smirked.
“Woah, woah, woah. Easy, baby… Why don’t you walk me through it? What are you babbling about?”
My hands balled into fists. I wanted to hit him straight in the face. I could take any game he wanted to play, but not this. Not on my plans of pursuing law school. That’s the only card I was dealing with. I didn’t have any backup plan anymore. It was either this or nothing.
“Cut the crap. Give me my documents, Lyle,” I said through clenched teeth.
“Oh… THAT.”
He got up, and for a moment I thought he was going to get me my documents. I was wrong. What he did instead was walk out of the door and come back with two cans of beer. He placed a beer in front of me.
“Here. Ease your tense muscles.”
I glared at the beer, then at him.
“I’m not playing with you.
