Chapter 30. A Visit

I sighed. It was a relief knowing it was a successful day for Ashlene. She completed her errand of getting her credentials from her old university. I guessed she had other things to do today because the last message I sent wasn’t replied to. It’s okay, though. She could always prioritize me last. I wanted her to put her dreams first before me.
My phone rang; it was already 1 pm. I had set the alarm for exactly that, adjusting the time on my phone from that of the office. My lunch break was now over. After that quick phone check, I went back inside the office to continue transcribing the important parts of the confession we got the other day.
As I opened the door, it was also the same time Anton got out. He was smoking a cigarette which I almost knocked over when our bodies collided.
