Madeline's POV

“What were you thinking, young lady? Do you want your parent to get lamented due to your insolence?!” Duchess Azalea reprimanded me in my chambers. “How did you get to the alehouse? The drinks are not for little young ladies like you!” 

I just bowed my head and did not meet the duchess’ eyes. I tried to appear guilty even if I am not after I went back to the palace and encountered her with a furious expression inside my chambers. I still haven’t seen the count and the countess and they must be busy accommodating for my name day’s preparation. 

“I apologize for being a butt-head, Auntie,” I said in a soft voice. “But I assure you that I was only roaming around and got lost in the alehouse. I did not know that there were vampires who were drunkards.”

“Then in the first place, you must have not roamed around and busied yourself in dressing up for your name day!”
