Chapter 53. This Is Not Our World

Madeline's POV

When we got back to the tree house while Uriel and I were talking, we immediately noticed Victor on a small veranda. He was busy reading his book of spells. The moment the wooden floor creaked because of us climbing, the spell he was practicing above his hand vanished into violet dust. He just looked over his shoulder and then went back to what he was doing. 

Uriel and I looked at each other. He shook his head and smiled a little bit. I sighed, now going to my single bed so that I could dry myself completely. After I had dressed and combed my hair, I went to the tiny sink where a plastic of vegetables was plastered. My eyes bore on a pile of woods that I can use to burn. A hanging pot was on it. Only huge rocks were lacking.

"Uriel?" I called him who was donning his shirt. He looked at me. "Would you mind collecting some woods and huge rocks?"

He arched his eyebrow. "Why?"
