Lena’s POV

Every step I took into the courtroom felt like I was walking into a cage with everyone watching, waiting for the door to slam shut behind me.

Liana stayed close to my side, Madison right behind us, like they were afraid I might disappear if they let go. We reached the defense side, and I sat down in the front seat, my hands clasped tightly in my lap.

I looked over at the empty chair beside me where my lawyer was supposed to be sitting. My heart beat accelerated and I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

My eyes turned to Anderson’s lawyer and the confident look on his face made me even more scared.

I met Yvonne’s eyes multiple times and she had the mocking smile permanent on her face which made me angrier every minute.

I looked away before she could see how badly my hands were shaking.
